The Shofar is a rams horn that is traditionally blown on Rosh Hashanah - the Jewish New Year and Yom Kippur - the Day of Atonement.
The shofar is a special musical instrument that is made from a hollowed out rams horn or antelope horn. There is a special mitzvah - commandment from the Bible to hear the shofar being blown on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. It is taught that the sound of the shofar opens the skys to the prayers of the Jewish people on these two days of judgement.
At jJudaica we have a number of beautiful shofars. If you are looking to blow the shofar this year we have the 'Easy Blow' shofar that makes it easy for everyone, even the beginner to make a proper sound. We have antelope horn shofars, that are traditionally used by the Yemenite Jewish community. Some of our shofars feature 925 sterling silver decorations that are embossed with scenes of the Holy city of Jerusalem. Then there are a decorative range of shofars that feature silver plated artwork and come with a black stand.
At jJudaica you can choose the perfect shofar to bring in the Jewish New Year.
